Welcome to Back Street Country Market and Tuff Luv Cattle Farm!

I’m Tina!  My husband Kyle and I together are raising four kids, managing multiple careers, and raising food you can feel good about.

We specialize in Charolais beef cattle on our little slice of paradise in Southern Minnesota.  We invite you to come by our farm to see exactly where and how we raise your beef.

Both my husband and I are deeply passionate about farming and agriculture.  We especially love our cattle!  We see great value in maintaining the tradition of independent family farms that oversee the daily care of their land and their animals themselves.

As an advocate and educator for Minnesota farmers, I recognize the challenge that many small farms face.  We are grateful that you’ve stopped by to learn more about our family and the work we do to be responsible stewards of our land and our traditions.

Why and how did we establish our farm?

I was born and raised on a diverse cattle and crop farm in Southern Minnesota.  I studied agriculture business at the University of Wisconsin-River Falls.  After graduation, I returned to my family’s farm to work for a few years.

Kyle and I met during this time while working together at a local coop.  When we married a couple of years later, we hosted out large reception in our hay barn on our farm.  This not only kicked off our new life together as a married couple, but also our new chapter of farming together.  We’ve now been running our farm for 10 years.

Feeding people is in my DNA.  My parents, Greg and Tami, opened a restaurant featuring our family farm’s meat when I was in high school.    People who ate at our restaurant or at a catering event started requesting to buy our quarters, halves, or a whole beef and pork.  We began having our meat processor make beef sticks from our meat, which led to us selling all cuts of meat at area farmers markets.

Life on our farm has now grown to include our four children, heritage pork in addition to Charolais beef cattle, and daily (mis)adventures.

When the dust settles at the end of the day, I am reminded how much I love doing what we do.  It’s hard work, and often harder to balance farm life while raising kids.  I find inspiration in teaching my children the value of hard work.  I love seeing the results of the efforts we make.  I absolutely adore our loyal, repeat customers.  We’re honored to have our meat on so many of our friends and neighbors’ tables.

What makes our products different?

We raise our cattle naturally.  This means that they are free of growth hormones and implants.  They are unconfined and able to roam our pastures as they please.  We treat them with respect and care every moment that they are with us.

All of our cattle are grass fed and grain finished.  The grain finishing makes our beef stand out.  We also dry age our beef.  This means that it hangs for 18-24 days.  This process improves the beefs flavor quality by allowing it to tenderize gradually as it matures.

I know that I’m biased, but grocery store beef just can’t compare.

When you spend your money on food that’s been raised with care, you know it’s going to be good.
